RESEARCH

HYPERSTUDIO
Create an intro page for ants with a link to Stink Ants

CYCLES
Use a circle/frame map to map out examples of cycles. Can also use graphical organizer software.

STINK ANT
Introduce the story and new vocabulary by presenting the first five sentences out of order on presentation paper or overhead. After going through the five sentences, have the students collaborate in pairs to put them in order. Upon completing the order, share, then have the paired students read the complete story.

STORY MAP
Collaborating in groups of four, each person will draw a picture representing something that happened in the story. Draw something you feel no one else will probably draw. Next sequence the pictures. Write captions. Discuss what is missing. Add the missing parts.

THE ORDER
Using Hyperstudio, sequence the story. Use words to summarize and images to illustrate. Include scanned images (the drawings), images from the Internet, and from a digital camera. Moving images or animation can also be used.

SHARE
Share the created Hyperstudio presentations. The audience will respond with some positive qualities and ask questions.

CYCLE REVISITED
Will go back to the cycle circle/frame map to see how the Stink Ant is a cycle.

MORE ANTS
Each group will create another ant section following the same 'cycle' of research.
