The Reading Record is initially, and as changed, modeled on an overhead projector with a transparency made directly from the computer printer or on a copier. I have students assist with the modeling on the overhead - orally and participating. Depending on the students and time of the year, the Reading Record will reflect what the students are doing with language (which includes all subjects of the curriculum. The Reading Record below is on standard size paper and includes another thing to do - often with ideas from the class which stimulates interest and the learning process. I often use legal size paper thereby enlarging the space available. The document was created and easily changed in PageMaker (published by Adobe with an educational price under $200) and could easily be replicated in many other programs.
